Work locations are Phoenix AZ, Downers Grove IL, Cranberry PA, and Blue Bell PA.


This job is working with Infrastructure engineers to define, configure then acquire hardware and software needs for business applications. Also, to create financial estimates and models for these resources. Acquisitions are processed in collaboration with Aetna Procurement.

Fundamental Components:

Evaluates, supports and negotiates various Aetna/Vendor relationships, dependencies on vendors to provide computing services. Coordinates the integration of vendor tasks to meet project demands. Support contract negotiations with vendors by providing technical reasoning that support the company's position. Develops project estimates for business driven initiatives or special projects. Coordinates infrastructure resources as needed to achieve the objectives of concurrent projects. Manages activities in a matrixed environment for multiple, high profile projects or assignments in support of IT and business initiatives impacting mid-range, mainframe, and multi-tiered computing environments potentially having enterprise-wide impact. Commit appropriate resources to achieve customer satisfaction, expense and other critical business metrics. Responsibility in meeting budgetary implementation costs and aligning unit goals with the department operating plan. Ability to negotiate complex and often contentious issues, reach consensus and work through people to achieve key goals. Assist in developing annual operating budget. Provide project planning and estimates, budget approvals, budget changes and forecasting.


3+ years experience with Hardware & Software, Infrastructure Engineering or Distributed Application Platforms required

Knowledge or In-depth experience with the following technologies required: VMware, ESX, Linux, Windows, Hadoop, Hortonworks server, CIsco, Blades

Knowledge or Some Working experience with Vendor Management required

Strong communication skills required

Knowledge of Project Management a plus

Strong leadership experience, collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and effectively with all levels of management and staff.

Experience within a highly technical large data processing environment including open systems, storage, network and distributed services.

Financial and budgeting experience preferred


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

This position requires development of a unique blend of technical and financial skills. Strong technical skills are required to liaise with Infrastructure engineers and often press for more efficiency.
