Aetna Database Administrator for App in Downers Grove, Illinois

Database Administration position supporting production and non-production SQL environments underlying web sites for tax advantaged health care accounts. Support, optimization and tuning are the primary tasks of this position.

Fundamental Components:

  • Database Administration for multiple MSSQL Server 2012 and higher databases.

  • Troubleshooting and resolution of issues within the databases and related code.

  • Performance Tuning and Optimization.

  • Working with the development team to meet new and updated data access requirements.

  • Working with other members of the DBA team to establish processes and procedures for the safety, security and accessibility of the databases.

  • Working with senior members of the DBA team to grow your skills and knowledge.


    3-4 years experience with Microsoft SQL server database administration.

    Knowledge of MSSQL Server 2012 and higher versions.

    Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

    Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.

    Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.


    The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

    This is a fast paced team with a large amount of flexibility and input into how the job gets done.

    Additional areas of interest will be High Availability, Disaster Recovery options for MSSQL Server, and operational automation scripting.
