POSITION SUMMARY:

This position can work from our New York, NY office or our Hartford, CT office locations.

The Senior Communications Consultant will lead the communications supporting Aetnas continuous improvement program, Achieving Business eXcellence (ABX). A fast paced, innovative and growing organization, this team requires a high-energy professional with a strategic mindset and exceptional attention to details. With a focus on managing internal communications, you should have a knack for simplifying difficult concepts into relatable material. As a member of the Enterprise and Function Communications team, youll design and drive both the strategy and execution of communication efforts with a passion for changing culture and driving results.

Fundamental Components:

Partner with the Director, Core Operations, and ABX leadership to develop and deliver innovative internal communication strategies and clear narratives that engage Aetna associates to focus on continuous improvement

Develop world-class strategic positioning, messaging, content and collateral

Manage communications to all Aetna employees including clear, consistent and frequent messaging from the Vice President of ABX regarding key initiatives, changes and progress

Drive messaging across multiple platforms including internal social media, emails, internal blogs, SharePoint, etc.

As primary lead for the ABX brand, ensure consistent design and messaging for executives and associate-level presentations, reports, etc.

Write, review and edit communications content on such topics as organizational announcements, employee recognition and key updates

Manage and interpret analytics and trends, and make recommendations based on this data

Develop measurement criteria to effectively evaluate communications and programs

Minimum Education

Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English or a related field

Background/Experience

Eight+ years of communications experience in a Fortune 50 company

Internal communications expertise including demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast paced environment

Excellent writing, editing, creative and verbal communication skills.

Superior project management and presentation skills

Lean/Six Sigma knowledge desired

Five years of healthcare, or health insurance industry analytic experience desired

Experience with multiple communications platforms, technology, web, social media, etc.

Ability to build relationships, integrate strategies and collaborate with other communication professionals toward a common goal

Critical Skills

Creative thinker and strong, versatile writer with the ability to juggle unanticipated urgent needs

High level of comfort with advising senior leaders and serving as trusted counsel

Translates organizational strategies into clear objectives and business action

Successfully works across Aetnas functions, segments and markets to get things done

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Eight + years of communications experience in a Fortune 50 company

Lean/Six Sigma knowledge desired

Five years of healthcare, or health insurance industry analytic experience desired

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
