Aetna Underwriting Analyst in Hartford, Connecticut

Support dental and vision underwriting as directed by supervisor in support of stated mission and key performance measures. This position involves technical work, analysis, and communication, and some application of underwriting, accounting and/or financial principles.

Fundamental Components:

Underwriters use quantitative and qualitative analysis and Aetna pricing tools to calculate and provide Aetna plan designs and premium rates for the requested benefits. Communications skills are used to deliver Aetna's offer to internal and external sales partners.


College degree. Solid quantitative reasoning skills -- Good communication skills (written & verbal) -- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other team members -- Strong problem-solving orientation -- Positive work attitude and ethic -- Working familiarity with Excel spreadsheets -- Quick learner and not intimidated by technology or system-based tools.


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Telework Specifications:

Casual WAH on a limited basis (1-2 days per week) may be allowed after training period is complete (subject to current Aetna WAH rules that apply).
