As a Large Group Underwriting Consultant you will support the sales process by performing accurate underwriting analysis and risk assessment for complex new and/or renewal case files.
Calculates complex renewal and prospective group rates using solid product knowledge and underwriting protocols.
Completes accurate financial analysis and risk assessment to evaluate specific strategic options and opportunities.
Grants underwriting exception and financial variances within prescribed dollar limits.
Negotiates and fully explains rate development, pricing components, and application of underwriting policies.
Assists sales personnel in explaining rate calculations and communicating underwriting policy.
Ensures the quality and integrity of account-specific data and information released to the sales force.
Utilizes advanced functionality of rating/financial tools, reference materials, and source systems for premium, membership, and claim information.
Analyzes competitive position on a case specific basis and develops financial comparisons.
Identifies and supports process improvement through automation or process changes.
Trains, mentors, and/or assists less experienced underwriters in development of technical skills.
Previous (3-5 years) experience in underwriting pricing methodologies & funding arrangements.
In-depth knowledge of rating and/or accounting and underwriting concepts.
Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
Ability to use standard corporate software pack
Proficient in Excel
Previous consulting experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
