POSITION SUMMARY

The LG Underwriting Consultant role is an ideal position for someone with several years of Group Medical underwriting experience and looking for an opportunity to work with a new company, new team or new market?

Fundamental Components:

We are currently seeking an experienced Underwriter/Underwriting Consultant to join the West/South Central UW Region at Aetna. As an LG Underwriting Consultant, an individual will have the responsibility to analyze health benefit plan characteristics and assess risks as to frequency and potential severity of losses of clients. Collaborating with Sales and Service partners, the LG Underwriting Consultant will work to help set strategies to balance the needs of the plan sponsor and Aetna. The LG Underwriting Consultant will evaluate and recommend alternative pricing options and plan design changes based on economic analysis and trends. This individual will also prepare financial modeling for reserve calculation, budget calculation, and other ongoing reviews that directly aligns with client strategies. They will validate renewals and request for proposals for accuracy including utilization & experience reporting.

As an LG Underwriting Consultant, there will also be opportunities to mentor others and to become resource on projects in support of underwriting processes, methodologies and tools, promoting a collaborative and open work environment.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Previous (3-5 years) experience in underwriting pricing methodologies and funding arrangements. In-depth knowledge of rating and/or accounting and underwriting concepts.

Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management. Ability to use standard corporate software.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
