Fundamental Components:

As an Underwriting Manager, you will play an integral part in the success of the team. This includes many and varied responsibilities. You will need to understand the underwriting profit and premium goals and provide the underwriters with guidance in order to manage to them. You will work with the team to encourage collaborative interactions between the underwriters and their Sales and Service partners. The continuous development of staff is a critical responsibility of the Underwriting Manager. You will be looked at as an expert and a mentor providing your team with regular guidance and feedback to improve. As you identify gaps in learning, you will be looked upon to develop a strategy to close the training gaps. In addition, you will be expected to manage various Talent Management activities including performance management, salary administration and career development plans. Complete other duties and assignments as assigned. Provide legendary service to our customers. In this role, you will never have 2 days that are the same. BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Extensive pricing experience via all types of pricing methodologies (manual, experience, blended, alternate, etc.) and funding arrangements with knowledge of the Aetna systems supporting those products and rating methodologies. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience preferred.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Insurance/HIAA Certificate is desired

Insurance/Health and Life Insurance Company Operations (LOMA) is desired

FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCES

Functional - Underwriting/New business - group medical/4-6 Years

Functional - Underwriting/Renewal - group medical/4-6 Years

Functional - Underwriting/Pricing methodologies (manual, experience, blended, alternate, etc.)/4-6 Years

Functional - Underwriting/Rating methodologies and/or functions (rating and accounting)./4-6 Years
