Aetna UM Nurse Consultant in Albany, New York

Position open to sit in either our Albany, NY office or our Hartford, CT office.

Internal employees that are already WAH can remain WAH and nurses on the West Coast or with compact state licenses encouraged to apply.

POSITION SUMMARY

Utilizes clinical skills to coordinate, document and communicate all aspects of the utilization/benefit management program within the DCAT Team. Requires an RN with unrestricted active license and may require some weekend hours or rotation of hours to accommodate business needs.

Fundamental Components:

  • Reviewing services to assure medical necessity

  • Applying clinical expertise to assure appropriate benefit utilization

  • Facilitate safe and efficient discharge planning

  • Work closely with facilities and providers to meet the complex needs of the member

    BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

    Minimum of 3+ years of clinical experience is required

    Effective communication skills, both written and verbal are required

    Ability to multitask, prioritize and effectively adapt to a fast paced, deadline driven environment is required

    Managed Care experience preferred

    Precertification experience is a plus

    EDUCATION

    The minimum level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

    Nursing/Nursing License (RN) is required

    Nursing/Certified Case Manager (CCM) is preferred

    Functional - Nursing/Concurrent Review/discharge planning/1-3+ Years
