The Joint Venture/AWH Sales Director is accountable for sales, client growth and member retention for Joint Ventures and targeted Aetna Whole Health partnerships. This is a newly created position in which the JV/AWH Sales Director will partner with the JV CEOs and be directly involved in the identification of sales prospects and the selling of the new JV solutions; and, provide guidance, coaching and direction to the local market sales teams across all segments. She/he provides guidance to sales reps on joint venture and Aetna Whole Health value propositions.

The JV/AWH Sales Director develops and manages a sales pipeline across multiple distribution channels, and provides direction, sales information and recommendations to Aetnas Sales and Account Management teams to meet/exceed organizational sales objectives in a fast paced, dynamic, start-up environment.

The director must forecast and develop sales targets, project sales volumes, analyze trends and develop strategies for their territories. Additionally, the JV/AWH Sales Director must establish critical partnerships with customers to develop strategies for growing the business.

Fundamental Components:

  1. Directly sells products by establishing contact and developing relationships with prospects; presents proposals and handles negotiations with prospects. 2. Develops and maintains (pre/post sales) direct relationships with customers and key strategic partners; meets with key clients regularly 3. Works collaboratively with the respective JV CEO(s), Business Development, Underwriting, Sales Support, Marketing, Network, Finance, Product and Aetna Local Markets to identify, win and grow profitable membership opportunities in the marketplace

  2. Foster sales by providing prospect and customer insights to the ACS organization to support delivering products and services that meet market needs. 5. Develops and implements a business sales strategy and sales and marketing plan to strengthen the current sales distribution model and identify disruptive sales approaches that drive membership and favorable revenue for JV business and targeted Aetna Whole Health arrangements. 6. Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals for the territories.

  3. Develops and manages sales operating budgets 8. Develops and recommends pricing strategies to produce the highest level market share 9. Lead ongoing market and competitive analyses to aid strategic decision making and development of key messaging /positioning in support of the business 10. Evaluates market research and adjusts strategy to meet the changing market ad competitive conditions


    At least 10 years of industry sales experience. 2-3 years sales management experience for supervisory positions.


    The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
