POSITION SUMMARY

Support Aetna's ability to achieve its financial and strategic goals through effective underwriting. Underwriting support primarily includes identifying, evaluating, and managing risk in order to maximize revenue, membership and earnings.

Fundamental Components:

Provides underwriting support by assisting with the preparation and delivery of renewal case files. Analyzes results for reasonability and makes decisions about how to proceed.

Under general supervision, makes recommendations for plan changes and rate impact based on financial analysis, underwriting principals, and business strategy.

Uses rating/financial tools, reference materials, and source systems for premium, membership, and claim information.

Verifies contracts to ensure established underwriting guidelines are met.

Identifies process improvement through automation or process changes and makes change recommendations to management when appropriate.

Revises priorities to respond to change.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Entry level position for Large Group Underwriting

Demonstrated knowledge of rating and/or accounting and underwriting concepts.

Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external constituents.

Ability to use standard corporate software packages and corporate applications.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
