The Manager, Data Operations & Automation will provide strategic leadership for the SW Automation & DevOps Teams.

The manager will partner with software engineering and operations roles in development, configuration management code deployment, automation and tool development areas

Build the team Seek, hire and retain a strong, collaborative agile team of engineering experts Motivates team members and probes into technical details Partner with Data Engineering, and Product Managers in the engineering of the core products and capabilities that will be leveraged by application development teams and other delivery stakeholders Manage multiple cross functional skilled teams of engineers that execute on an Agile delivery cadence, delivering services and domain objects within a big data environment

DevOps Responsibilities:

Manager and lead the team in the DevOps practice, ensuring delivery of a highly available and scalable system Managing the troubleshooting and resolving of issues in our dev, test and production environments Guide development and automation tools for building, deploying, and monitoring

SW Engineering in Test/ Automation responsibilities:

Drive the implementation of the automation framework across various applications and systems that are core to Aetna's Digital Transformation Platform. Guide in the development, validation and delivery of algorithms, complex software processes, and integration of existing or new big data subsystems. Innovate and automate existing processes to allow QA organization to be more efficient Manager the automation strategy and planning across Hadoop environment with CI/CD enablement. Automate API (Web Services, RESTful) testing using existing tools/ new tools. Coach other team members to develop automation code with standard coding practices and reusable libraries


7 or more years of progressively complex related experience. 5+ years of experience executing within an Agile framework 5+ years of healthcare experience 3+ years of staff supervision/management experience

DevOps Skills

CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins Public cloud, such as AWS, Azure & GCP (Ideal is AWS) Experience with Git, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible in mission critical production environments Microservices Architecture in production using containers Programming languages/tools including: Java, Object-Oriented Languages, Python, Spark, SQL, R, Hive, JavaScript and Shell Scripts

SW Engineer in Test skills:

Selenium, SOAP UI or similar tools. Swagger/ Cucumber is advantageous. Test automation skills and techniques in Web, API, Data feeds, and mobile Object-oriented programming, along with requisite coding and debugging skills Range of modern Automation and Performance technology/test tools. Automation experience in AWS environment is desirable. Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration (e.g. Jenkins, GIT)


Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
