POSITION SUMMARY

Aetna is taking on a major initiative to redesign and rebuild many of its customer facing digital assets. This effort will include a completely new approach to building software within Aetna, using the latest design approaches, technologies, and processes. Aetna Digital, a newly formed startup like business unit within Aetna, will design, build and deliver completely new and integrated digital experiences for our users.

Aetna Digital is looking for a Senior Software Architect (Application Security) who will focus on ensuring that our architecture and software designs meet security requirements. You will be the primary Security Maven between our group and Aetna Global Security in determining the requirements and best practices we follow in building secure products. This role requires EXCELLENT coalition building skills, solid technical knowledge up and down the stack, great communication skills, and the ability to assess and design secure architecture and applications.

Fundamental Components:

The ideal candidate will be able to work with stakeholders, including business, product, and UX team members to influence the application dataflow design and extensible product platform architecture.

This person will need to understand technology and have technical conversations with BOTH Architects AND Developers. Will need to be able to go into detail on how the technology works. Will need to ensure when the team is implementing code the approach will ensure the security of the code and the application.

Analyze and design security solutions for applications and infrastructure, and provide expertise and consulting to the overall organization. Secure software development, data protection, cryptography, key management, SSO/SAML, identity and access management (IAM) within SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud environments. Experience with various types of software architectures including Microservice architecture. A disciplined approach to software development and problem solving. Passion for technology and a high technical aptitude. Working in an Agile SDLC. Work with best of breed technologies (Cloud, high throughput event processing, data analytics, etc.) A proven track record of working as part of a team on large architectural projects. Excellent verbal and written communications. 10+ years of recent and related experience.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Architected solutions within Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other cloud providers with focus on Security.

Working knowledge of relevant security regulations such a PCI-DSS and HIPAA.

Modern technologies experience including: Node.js, Python, Ruby, AngularJS, messaging (i.e. AWS SNS/SQS, RabbitMQ), and other cloud services.

Experience with SAFe Software Development Principles a plus.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
