POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Director will be responsible to implement a defined management process for driving best practices within functions of responsibility. Normally directs a group of financial managers. The Director is accountable for the effective implementation and monitoring of financial functions that supports the business units' financial plans. May participate in those projects that impact all functional disciplines (non-financial) of the company

Fundamental Components:

-Implements a management process for strategy development and ensure appropriate linkage to company's strategic objectives.

-Partners with business unit leader to execute short and long-range strategic plans.

-Integrates execution across various departments.

-Oversees the implementation of effective processes for achieving business goals

-Monitors financials for the business unit.

-Evaluates and analyzes the financial impact of key business strategies (i.e. market investments, market exits, acquisitions, etc.).

-Analyzes and critically evaluates growth opportunities.

-Leads assigned projects to drive the execution of actions to improve business results.

-Monitors training initiatives for the financial operations across the county.

-Builds effective teams throughout the organization and assists in ensuring appropriate staffing and development for staff succession.

-May ensure expense allocations are reviewed and revised to support business objectives.

-Ensures in-depth cost analysis is conducted for all buasiness areas.

-Directs the evaluation of business area projects, challenging financial resources, resolving expense savings.

-Identifies savings opportunities and organizational streamlining opportunities.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

-8+ years financial management experience including strategic and business planning, accounting and financial analysis.

-Extensive experience in healthcare, managed care insurance or financial services.

-CPA a plus

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

The candidate will be able to get involved in all aspects of the business, from finance, to planning to operations. In this position the candidate will see all aspects of a health care business and will not be limited or siloed to just reporting / budgeting process.

The local management team will look to this person for leadership and guidance. This is a real business leader role. This role also will need to interact with actuary, med econ and other Aetna Departments. This role is the main contact with the State.
