Aetna PayFlex Sales Executive in Chicago, Illinois

We are looking for two Senior Sales Professionals to sell FSA, HSA, HRA administration services and COBRA and Transportation services. Previous healthcare spending account sales experience preferred but not required.

The ideal Senior Sales Executive will have knowledge of the health plan space and consultant/ broker distribution channels and should be able to drive impactful results from both in their assigned territory. The ideal candidates will be self-motivated, capable of learning on the fly and willing to go the extra mile.

He/ she will be responsible for developing sales strategies and attracting new clients for our National Accounts team. This role will focus on targeting companies with more than 3,000 employees. The two open geographical territories are the West Coast and the Mid-West.

Ideal candidate will be located near any of the major travel hubs in their respective territory . This is a ‘work at home' position when not traveling.

Fundamental Components:

  • Source new sales opportunities within a defined territory.

  • Manage the sale from initial contact to contract and close sales to achieve quotas.

  • Key role in increasing income and revenue by managing and negotiating with clients, generating leads, qualifying prospects and managing sales of products and services.

  • As an outside sales representative, or sales agent, they will also research sales competition.

  • Travel will vary between 30-50%.


  • Ensures product, pricing and services meet client's needs while meeting PayFlex revenue growth and profit objectives.

  • Collaborates with internal partners and/or external constituents to uncover profitable growth and cross-sell opportunities within new or existing customers and to support post-sale activities.

  • Coordinates sales materials, testimonials and subject matter expert involvement in support of the successful delivery of constituent presentations. May participate in constituent meetings including finals presentations.

  • Develops/maintains and communicates expertise on products, industry and emerging marketplace trends.

  • "Get the sale using various customer sales methods (cold calling, presentations, etc.).

  • Forecast sales, develop sales strategies/models and evaluate their effectiveness.

  • Evaluate customers skills, needs and build productive long lasting relationships.

  • Meet personal and team sales targets.

  • Research accounts and generate or follow through sales leads.

  • Attend meeting, sales events and trainings to keep abreast of the latest developments.

  • Report and provide feedback to management using financial statistical data.

  • Maintain and expand client database within your assigned territory.


  • Candidate should have 5-7 years experience in direct sales.

  • Proven sales experience including a track record of over-achieving quota.

  • Experience working with or similar CRM.

  • Familiarity with different sales techniques and pipeline management.

  • Computer use competency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated and driven.

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent.
