Responsible for providing overall direction for the account client management functions for a nationally-aligned account client management business unit. Accountable for driving and achieving company defined retention/account management objectives.

Fundamental Components:

  • Provides leadership for the account management functions for a nationally-aligned business unit.

  • Maintains relationships with decision-makers of key clients in order to retain and grow revenue.

  • Supports sales efforts of new accounts and initiates activities which lead to the sale of additional benefits into existing accounts.

  • May review and direct the performance of operational areas. May develop strategic, operational and tactical business plans to achieve desired business goals for assigned operational areas.

  • Collaborates with other departments to resolve service issues, improve service levels and maximize client satisfaction. May provide expert knowledge in the areas of operational information systems design and client data support.

  • Sets strategy for assigned business unit regarding pricing, product offering, and service in order to maximize revenue and contribution from existing clients.

  • Sets annual budgets for business unit revenue and expenses.

  • Recruits, develops, and motivates staff. Initiates and communicates a variety of personnel actions including employment, termination, performance reviews, salary reviews, and disciplinary actions.

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • 10+ years sales and/or account management experience.

  • 10+ years small group health insurance management experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong decision-making, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Ability to develop and execute strategic and tactical business plans.


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
