Our Dental/Vision Core Underwriting team has an opening for a passionate underwriter/project manager ready to take the next step in their career as an Underwriting Technical Lead. As an Dental/Vision Underwriting Technical Lead, you will support Aetna's ability to achieve its financial and strategic goals for the Dental and Vision products. Underwriting support will primarily include effectively identifying, evaluating, and managing risk in order to maximize revenue, membership and earnings, building strong cross-functional collaborative relationships with sales force and other internal constituents to meet plan and market objectives. This is a great opportunity for an experienced underwriter/project manager to further develop and demonstrate their technical skills on complex cases, industry knowledge, collaborative negotiating ability, and block of business management acumen. There will be ample opportunity to interact with other departments and with Senior Management across Commercial Business. Make an impact on products that are in its early stages of growth. The candidate will also be called on to lead various departmental projects, help develop staff, and improve processes. #WeJoinYou #AetnaCareers #Underwriting · Serves as a product and financial consultant for field sales and account management on strategic, complex, or highly visible Professional Employer Organization (PEO) and private exchange cases.· Identifies risks and recommends appropriate measures to manage risks while growing or retaining membership.· Calculates complex renewal and prospective group rates using solid product knowledge and underwriting protocols.· Negotiates and fully explains rate development, pricing components, and application of underwriting policies.· Presents information to management, employers and brokers in support of business rating practices.· Communicates concisely and effectively to executive leadership on a consistent basis· Utilizes advanced functionality of rating/financial tools, reference materials, and source systems for premium, membership, and claim information.· Trains, mentors, and/or assists less experienced underwriters in development of their technical skills and casework review.· Identifies team training issues and recommends an appropriate course of action.· Leads various projects, both within the department and across Commercial Businesses.· Leads process improvement initiatives. BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:· Extensive (5+ years) experience in medical, dental, and/or other supplemental products underwriting pricing methodologies· Ideally the candidate will have experience with fully-insured and self-funding arrangement· Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills· Excellent written and verbal communication skills· Strong communication skills; effectively with all levels of management, sales, as well as external clients· Demonstrated leadership skills· Ability to use standard corporate software packages and corporate applications. EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
