POSITION SUMMARY

Aetna's Lean Six Sigma Achieving Business eXcellence (ABX) Enterprise organization is looking for a Lean Six Sigma expert with a passion for driving complex, large-scale change. The Lead Business Consultant is an experienced, highly-skilled continuous improvement (CI) practitioner who partners with business, operations, and technology leaders to drive nationwide business and cultural transformation. The ideal candidate will be a customer-centered, service-oriented, problem-solver with a track-record of success leading complex, enterprise-scale engagements, a strong understanding of strategic planning and execution processes, and will possess exceptional negotiation and communication skills.

This position will be located in Hartford, CT, and will require travel to other Aetna locations approximately 50% of the time. Health insurance / healthcare experience a must. Functional expertise in Sales and Account Management, Marketing, Product, Underwriting, IT, and Provider Service & Operations preferred. Experience in lean deployment desired. Strong analytic and exceptional facilitation skills required. Proven, referenceable history of developing and leading matrixed teams, collaborating across functional and business unit boarders, and breaking down cultural barriers is essential.

Fundamental Components:

In partnership with Business Unit leaders, define, develop and deliver on a Continuous Improvement roadmap aligned with Aetna Strategies and operating goals. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by building Lean Six Sigma competency within the business, and developing sustainment vehicles to empower businesses to problem-solve at every level, every day. Lead and deliver on CI Roadmap Value Stream Design, Kaizen, and DMAIC / DMADV projects and events. Partner with PMO organizations and change management leaders to ensure successful execution of identified improvement opportunities. Participate in and contribute to the expansion of ABX service offerings, including Lean Business System deployment.

Assignments may range from national-scale, multi-year endeavors to quick-hit, one-day events. Practitioners will be expected to conduct training for Yellow and Green Belt candidates, and to mentor pupils through certification. Must be a highly-organized, likeable, credible self-starter with an appetite to dive-in, roll up the sleeves, and make great things happen.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

10+ years of experience operating in the Strategic Planning through Execution continuum Strategic Planning & Business Development, Multi-Year and Annual Operational and IT Investment Planning, Continuous Improvement, Portfolio Management & Project Governance, Implementation and Change Management. Preferred candidates will have management consulting experience, business architecture expertise, program management experience, organizational design expertise, business process consulting, financial acumen, and strong analytic skills.

LSS (Lean Six Sigma) Black Belt Certification Required.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
