Position Description:

Function as a member of the Sales Learning & Performance (L&P) departments leadership team. Responsible for leading and managing our Dynamic Curriculum team, which supports our sales colleagues in building their talent and expertise to continually strive toward being THE world-class sales team in our industry. Our industry is quite dynamic it changes and evolves constantly and requires that our sales force continually learns new things and elevates their skills. The Dynamic Curriculum team provides solutions to performance gaps that arise as the business evolves. Sales teams in the following businesses are our primary customers: Medicare, Middle Market, National Accounts, Public & Labor, Small Group, and Specialty.

Responsibilities/Fundamental Components

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key sales leaders as well as with leaders in other departments that support the sales teams

Initiate steps to become and remain entrenched in our customers businesses

Partner and consult with sales leaders to proactively create strategic learning plans that lead to achieving talent and business goals

Continue the operational build-out of the Dynamic Curriculum team

Evaluate, assign, and distribute work

Provide L&P executive sponsorship on relevant initiatives

Coach staff and other department personnel to excellence

Complete all activities associated with each phase of Aetnas annual performance management cycle

Identify, initiate, and lead efforts to collaborate with other units within the department

Collaborate with other corporate and functional training areas for impact and integration of efforts

Learning Expertise deep knowledge of adult learning principles, strategies for driving and sustaining behavior change, and tactics for measuring results and impact; stays abreast of industry trends and integrates relevant information

Business Savvy understands the health care industry and Aetnas business as well as how things work and how to get things done at Aetna (or large matrixed Fortune 50 corporation)

Emotional Intelligence aware of own strengths, preferences, style, and pitfalls/blind-spots; able to read others and appropriately flex own style to achieve strong collaborative relationships and to influence when necessary

Sales Orientation understands the nature and rigor of sales in our industry, the expectations placed upon our sales teams, and the differences in needs based on business area; relates well and able to quickly build credibility with sales people

Education and Certification Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred

5-7 years experience in a corporate training or related function

Educational background and superior knowledge and application of performance-based instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, education media, and performance consulting

Member of relevant learning/talent-related industry associations


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
