We are looking for a Principal Level Cloud Engineer with strong Big Data Platform experience to join our quickly growing technology team. Central to our model and overall organizational success, we develop capabilities to aggregate disparate datasets and create products and solutions to drive business decisions, enable the execution of business strategies, and measure business and clinical outcomes. While this role will be dynamic in nature, specific responsibilities of the Cloud Engineer will include:
Accountability for managing our cloud infrastructure in a security-first fashion
Provide expertise and influence in the development of network and server infrastructure and support in operating our enterprise data architecture
Participate in the development of internal software products
Embody and exemplify our devops culture
Fundamental Components:
Create the foundation CI/CD pipelines, process and automation that will enable development teams to deploy and maintain high performance levels, maximum uptime and the overall integrity of production systems
Provide advice, training and technical support across scrum teams
Identify security issues and risks, and develop mitigation plans
Look for ways to harden environment and keep ahead of emerging threats
Participate in and contribute to the evaluation, design, installation and maintenance of network, systems and security systems
Participate in and contribute to risk management, business continuity management, policy review and compliance audits
Look for ways to improve and streamline processes and procedures
Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations
Perform regular scripting work as needed (shell scripting, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
Operational database responsibilities: configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, backups, high availability etc.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our development, test and production environments
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:
Working experience with serverless technologies in AWS, Google Cloud, MS Azure, or other widely used Cloud Platform.
5+ years working with Cloud Technologies
5+ years of relevant experience working with Big Data products.
Experience working in a hybrid-cloud big data environment.
Experience working with an Agile Development software team
Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (Splunk, AWS CloudWatch, etc.)
Strong experience with NoSQL and SQL
Strong experience with Linux environments
Experience with Github (or) BitBucket, JIRA, Confluence
Working understanding of container technologies such as Docker
Experience in at least 1 language / scripting framework (Bash, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, etc.) and desire to pick up another language
Experience in a multi-cloud infrastructure environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience in Cloud Networking (DNS, IPsec, Security Groups, VPN, Load Balancing)
Experience designing cloud credential management solutions (IAM Roles, Azure RBAC )
Experience with a configuration management framework (Chef, Ansible, Puppet etc.)
Proficiency in orchestrating and managing data platforms is strongly preferred (Mesos, Zookeeper, Hadoop, Spark, Presto, etc.)
Experience with Amazon EMR (or equivalent cloud offerings), Spark, Amazon Redshift (or equivalent cloud offerings) and PostgreSQL
Experience in supporting Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Data Science and Big Data organizations
Experience managing and operating a logging infrastructure (ELK stack preferred)
Experience implementing an Infrastructure cloud monitoring and alerting using native cloud provider offerings or third parties such as DataDog, OpsGenie, etc.
Healthcare industry experience preferred but not required
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
