This is a role for the Small Group (SG) Shared Services team with broad exposure working on projects supporting PEO and SG products such as ACA and our self-funded underwritten product. Responsibilities include; developing and updating ACA studies and tools, and then driving implementation for local market actuaries who will use them in their pricing and rate filing as well as various special projects. There will be opportunities to see different strategies throughout the SG block, work with PEO and AFA actuarial teams, as well as, sales, underwriting and finance partners.
Sample projects will include risk score studies, understanding group conversation impacts and membership and risk between blocks, learning rating tools, evaluating the new business underwriting manual, and deep dives into emerging results.

Assumptions & Data Sources- Demonstrate understanding of existing data sources and translate into appropriate assumptions and functional business information. Identify/suggest alternatives/improvements.
Programs, Policies & Processes- Demonstrate understanding of intradepartmental products, programs, processes and policies; identify and research problems and issues.
Regulatory Issues- Demonstrate understanding of regulatory compliance issues.
Risk Assessment- Work with supervisor to understand the nature of specific risks. Share results of analysis with management.
Planning & Forecasting- Provide technical support and analysis for planning, forecasting and reporting process.
Understand and communicate financial impact to supervisor.
Use of Technology- Develop creative technical solutions to a variety of problems. Demonstrate spreadsheeting proficiency and familiarity with database and web-based applications.
Development & Implementation- Develop and implement appropriate tools and models.
Maintenance & Enhancements- Recommend, implement and oversee maintenance development of enhancements to processes, tools and systems. Make suggestions to maximize efficiency.
Bachelor's degree along with 2 - 3 years experience
Must have passed 3 - 4 actuarial exams and looking to continue on to achieve ASA designation
Any prior small group experience is desired, but not required
Strong technical skills; Excel, VBA, SQL
Must be motivated & have intellectual curiosity
Prior project experience is helpful
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
