POSITION SUMMARYTo dramatically improve its relationships with hospitals, physicians and other providers, Aetna launched Accountable Care Solutions (ACS) in 2010. Its mission is to develop mutually beneficial partnerships between Aetna and key providers, enabling their transformation from a hospital factory to a clinically integrated supplier of high quality, cost-efficient healthcare. In the past two years this team has launched joint venture (JV) health plans with Banner (Arizona), Texas Health Resources (Dallas/Fort Worth), Allina (Minneapolis/St. Paul), and Sutter Health (San Francisco/Sacramento) all of which complement our flagship joint venture with Inova (Northern Virginia). Working with the Head of Joint Venture Consumer Experience, the Product Manager, Consumer Experience will be responsible for identifying, designing, developing, and commercializing innovative strategies and solutions that will dramatically improve and differentiate the healthcare consumer experience for Joint Venture health plan members. This role will serve as the primary voice of the consumer and launch innovations that eliminate pain points and address unmet needs of members/patients. This role is responsible for executing both upstream product activities (product strategy, roadmap definition, partnership/M&A execution) and downstream activities (driving requirements from customers/user groups, experience design, and overseeing product development/implementation). Fundamental Components:Strategy Definition: Executes internal and external quantitative and qualitative market research at both national and local market level to determine new opportunities to dramatically improve the experience for JV members/patients Synthesize research to inform guiding principles for consumer experience strategy, identification of gaps to fill, and new product concepts Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to execute due diligence of new concepts, including market testing, operational and technology assessment, and development of business cases that demonstrate ROI, investments required, and build/buy/partner development plan Develop strategic short-term and long-term roadmap that articulates solutions and enhancements within each new product concept prioritized by business value, cost, and effort Product Development:Acts as the product owner throughout the development lifecycle by defining requirements and KPIs, validating UX design/workflows, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to prioritize requirements, oversee implementation, and manage budget, timeline and delivery expectations For concepts that will be developed via partnership, conduct thorough market scan to identify and compare prospective partners, gain senior leadership buy-in of preferred partner, execute diligence and assist in negotiation of partnership Work effectively across Aetna and JV Partners business areas by cultivating strong relationships and identifying cross-functional and enterprise-level support to advance JV strategic roadmaps, including areas of tactical and strategic support Commercialization:Partners with sales and marketing to develop the promotion strategy, competitive positioning, and pricing model when applicable for new enhancements/products Serve as an SME and support go-to-market planning and launch activities (i.e. sales training, demos) for portfolio of JV businesses BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:3-5 years of experience and technical/functional expertise in product management and development, customer experience, strategy, consulting (top tier firm) Strong quantitative skills with ability to structure, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and draw logical conclusions; propensity toward supporting hypothesis with strong quantitative and qualitative evidence; financial modeling experience is a plus Demonstrates effective business acumen and strategic thinking
Solid understanding of health plan and health system business models and operations, including the impacts imposed by health care reform (Medicare Advantage experience is a plus) Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to influence various constituents and drive initiatives that deliver a positive impact to the member/patients experience Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to lead complex initiatives through a highly matrixed environment, requiring the participation and support of multiple business areas Comfort with ambiguity and ability to create a process where one doesn t exist and deliver results
Proficiency across Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint, advanced visualization tools and robust understanding of software development lifecycle (agile and waterfall). Knowledge of best practices in consumer experience across industries preferred. Passion for improving the experience of healthcare consumers by launch innovative digital, service, and population health management solutions Education and Certifications: Bachelors required with a focus in Economics, Data Science, Engineering, MIS, Computer Science, Psychology, Behavioral Science or a related field MBA or Masters preferred, with a focus in healthcare EDUCATIONThe highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
