The Clinical Pharmacy Advisor supports a new and innovative member centric clinical care program for the Pharmacy Medication Management Program. The Pharmacy Medication Management Program (PMMP) integrates clinical pharmacists with the local health plan clinical care team to improve medication utilization and member outcomes. The PMMP Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for leading pharmacy based initiatives and supporting the work of clinical care teams serving high risk Medicaid members. The Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of Pharmacy Medication Management Programs as well as independently administering clinical pharmacy initiatives.

This is an In Office position in Overland Park, KS

Fundamental Components:

  • Collaborate with plan level associates (including pharmacy director, care managers, medical directors, provider relations, quality management, and others as necessary) to identify high priority member and provider populations requiring clinical pharmacy interventions.

  • Review and evaluate pharmacy and medical claims data and reporting with plan associates to identify members and prescribers requiring clinical pharmacy interventions.

  • Assist in the development of PMMP tools, resources, and outreach material as necessary

  • Serve as the brand ambassador for the PMMP within the plan to drive health plan associate utilization of the available programs.

  • Educate and train plan level associates on PMMP processes and priorities.

  • Independently complete accurate and comprehensive medication reviews and perform the corresponding member, care manager, and provider outreach as necessary.

  • Serve as the medication expert for health plan clinical care activities.

  • Engage providers to encourage the appropriate prescribing of medications.

  • Work collaboratively with health plan associates including care managers, medical directors, and quality management to perform member outreach that leads to improved medication utilization.

    Qualification Requirements:

  • Current unrestricted KS state license; Required.

  • Minimum of 1-3 years clinical pharmacy experience; Required.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of pharmacy or Pharm.D from an accredited school of pharmacy; Required.

  • Understanding of medical and pharmacy terminology; Required.

  • Experience in managing long-term, medication care plans; Required.

  • Managed Care experience; Preferred.

  • Medication Therapy Management Experience; Preferred.

  • Knowledge of clinical program components, formulary designs, and prescription benefit trends; Preferred.


    The minimum level of education required for candidates in this position is a Doctor of Pharmacy.


    Pharmacy/Licensed Pharmacist is required.
