Aetna Better Health of CA is hiring a Senior Project Manager who will be accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing management of more complex projects which typically impact more than one of the following: process, system, product and/or function and may run a year in duration. Leads/manages all aspects of the project and or program such as planning, coordination, development, implementation including the financial implications while prioritizing work, resources and time. Ensures the end state of the project and/or business operations meets business objective(s) and that all deliverables and due dates are met. Highly collaborative process often requires managing relationships across the segments or multiple functional areas. Supports the business by recommending appropriate actions, strategies and/or alternatives to meet business needs.

Fundamental Components:

(*) Develops and implements strategic project plan to achieve business goals

(*) Proactively leads project and/or business by setting direction of project, creating project plan, timeline identifying key milestones and additional resources needed on selected project(s)

(*) Identifies gaps and recommends enhancements related to new and/or existing products, services and workflows based on broad view of the organization

(*) Solicits and evaluates internal and external customer feedback to enhance continuous quality improvement

(*) Responsible for managing the budget and/or financial implications of more complex projects

(*) Group facilitation/presentation influencing various internal (these may be cross-functional/segment) and external parties (e.g., vendor management)

(*) Identifies issues that may stall project and addresses them by either resolving the issue or creating an alternative solution

(*) Tracks progress and communicates project(s) status on a regular basis to all impacted parties

(*) Builds communication plans for implementation to ensure all impacted parties (up stream/down stream) are informed of next steps for completion

(*) Acts as an advocate for change may require influencing others to see the value in project, including managing interpersonal sensitivities and articulating the strategic view to ensure project alignment

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

(*) BS or BA or equivalent work experience with 5-7 years of successful project management experience in health operations or similar disciplines with increasingly more complex projects across a highly-matrixed organization.

(*) PMP or other similar project management certification is preferred but not required. Knowledge of strategic planning and its concepts is a plus.

(*) Familiarity with Medicaid and or MediCal is a plus.

(*) Demonstrated project successes with related disciplines: business process development, implementations, migrations, system upgrades, automation replacement, operational improvements, etc.

(*) Demonstrated skills in building/directing an internal team to collaborate with a broad team of SMEs from diverse organizational backgrounds to effectively meet project goals and affect change

(*) Project/program expertise in stakeholder facilitations, communications and relationship management

(*) Deep experience with project management fundamental skills: planning, controlling, leading, risk/issue management, budget management, including written, oral and presentation skills

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
