Do you want to be an architect of defining what healthcare is and how/where/when its delivered? The Commercial Product & Solutions Management team is looking for a strategic thinker with excellent judgment and business sense for the role of Product Strategy Manager. This leader will join a dynamic and growing team within Aetna that is striving to transform the delivery of healthcare from fixing members when they are not well to providing members the services they need to achieve their personal health ambitions and, in so doing, to fundamentally revolutionize employer-provided health insurance programs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of innovative new insurance plan designs and/or complementary services. These innovations will provide value to Aetna's plan sponsors and members by re-thinking how the program fundamentally functions, by serving new types of customers, or by solving new customer needs.
o Drive strategic direction, simplification & integration of Company's product portfolio, including (but not limited to) creation of an annual operating plan and three-year strategy
o Develop, prioritize and manage product pipeline (from ideation through delivery and monitoring of results)
o Lead ongoing market and competitive analyses to aid strategic decision making and development of key messaging/positioning
o Build alignment with and in support of segment specific business strategies (e.g., cross-sale initiatives)
o Assist in introducing / institutionalizing effective cross-functional product management discipline across the enterprise
o Influence industry activity/trends and regulation through active participation on external industry groups/boards
o Lead product ideation and conceptualization efforts, for new products, programs and/or product enhancements, working in close partnership with other business areas by leveraging in-depth knowledge and understanding of market trends, customer needs/expectations, and internal capabilities
o Develop business cases for new product ideas / concepts
o Collaborate with AIS , Portfolio Managers and business to ensure appropriate project prioritization, funding, and change controls activity (budget or scope)
o Actively participate in the ongoing PLC processes to identify synergies and opportunities across projects to leverage resources & maximize outcomes
o Coordinate effective sales promotion and launch activities (internally and externally)
o Define product performance metrics
o Brings a sense of urgency to the role and take full accountability for the end result
o Can leverage verbal and written communication to obtain buy-in from critical partners including prioritization and funding
o Ability to build and leverage strong relationships and remove barriers; navigate and work across business areas
o Able to identify and mobilize cross-functional support required to achieve business objectives, including areas of tactical and strategic support.
o Oversee multiple competing products/projects with effective prioritization and eye for detail
o Serve as product expert, and leverage all resources available to achieve objectives.
o May manage, coach and mentor staff
o Serve as Business group lead or SME
o Participate in and contribute to continuous process improvement, especially as it related to
Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred) along with 7+ years of experience in healthcare and/or employee benefits; product development and/or management experience preferred
Demonstrated success with product development and/or management initiatives
Effective communication/influencing skills applied to broad internal/external audience
Demonstrated understanding of technology and how it can be applied to solve business problems/provide technical solutions
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
